The scientific journal "Sibirskaya finansovaya shkola" was established by the Siberian Institute of Finance and Banking in 1996 and registered with the Press Committee of the Russian Federation No. 015028 dated 27.06.1996 as a journal for financial market practitioners. Initially, the magazine had a second name – "AVAL".
The first editor-in-chief of the journal was a well-known scientist, Honored Economist of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Economics, Professor Rifat Huseynov. Since 1997 and to this day, the permanent editor–in-chief of the journal is Natalia Fadeikina - Doctor of Economics, Professor, Honored Scientist and Honored Economist of the Novosibirsk Region, Rector of the Siberian Academy of Finance and Banking from 1997 to 2020.
(In 2007, the Siberian Institute of Banking received the status of "Academy" and changed its name to the Siberian Academy of Finance and Banking).
In March 2001, the “Siberian Financial School” magazine was awarded the gold medal of the Siberian Fair.
In 2005, the journal “Siberian Financial School” was included for the first time in the List of the Higher Attestation Commission of Russia – the list of leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and publications in which the main scientific results of the dissertation for the degree of doctor and candidate of Sciences (direction "Economic Sciences") should be published.
In December 2007, he was awarded the "Golden Fund of the Press" Award.
In 2008, the journal was included in the national information and analytical system "Russian Science Citation Index" (RSCI) and placed in an integrated scientific information resource in the Russian zone of the NEB Internet in free access.
In 2013 (among 1,500 highly rated scientific journals selected from more than 3,000 publications), the metadata of the Siberian Financial School journal was placed in the SCIENCE INDEX system created on the basis of the RSCI, with a depth of immersion of 10 years (2003-2013).
In 2020, the Siberian Academy of Finance and Banking ceased its activities. Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management became the new founder of the Siberian Financial School magazine.
In July 2021, the publication turned 25 years old. During this period, 138 issues of the journal were published, 3174 articles were published, which were cited 13918 times, and the number of authors of articles exceeded the figure of 2050.
